Alias

Who are all you people with your aliases? Knuckles the clown or knuckles the mob? LOL. Need a name to the alias to put a face to the photo to the person to the curb.

Attempt at framing flowers

Great idea to share photos with former students. I'll try to post a picture of some flowers. I tried to make the picture more interesting by framing them a bit differently.
What do you think? Boring or nice? Needs some post production?

Monthly photo meet

We all need a kick in the ass and some people to talk to in our lonely work as photographers. In compliment to my regular photography courses, I am planning on starting an organized photo meet for up to 10 people where we meet once a month to show and talk about our work, get critique, talk about projects, etc.

When I say organized I mean that my job in this would be to mediate and make sure that everyone participates on some level, keeps to the point and provides inspiration material relevant to the members needs. In other words NOT a drink beer with photographers, but actual work/project pertinent.

Once I have a venue worked out I will get back with a price level.

If you have any tips or ideas let me know!

Kim

Going State Side

I am heading to the States on Friday so I may very well be on the silent side despite checking my email regularly.

Again! Please feel free to share your work with each other here. That's what this is about. Receiving and giving inspiration to each other. So let's get out there and share!

I have plans of starting a self portrait blog/webpage for the General Public so get cracking!

Cheers,
Kim

Experimenting with Digital

I discovered this Spring that my "expensive" sunglasses had broken over the winter. Being a slave to the shades I was forced to buy a new pair. Argh. However, while out at my cemetery I started to play around with my polarized sunglasses to see what type of artistic effect they would provide. Suddenly I realized that my broken sunglasses have a new and useful purpose! The frames gave a nice vignette while the polarization and tint made an even more interesting color effect. So now the task is to be learn how to hold the sunglasses against the lens and still keep up with the attacking seagulls.

Sorry to report, being the crazy animal lover I am, that the birds nest I photographed in the previous image from this series has been plundered and filled with sand. Despite being "just" måsjävlar, it was a bit distressing for me to find the nest destroyed and babies surely killed, after seeing the chicks snuggle up to their mom upon her return to the nest. I guess the dead don't necessarily love the living. ; )

That is what my photographic work with animals is about though. Provokng a soulful connection between beast and human.

A great alternative to stock photography

A friend of mine sent me this link saying the creator was looking for photographers. Thus, I send this along to all of you interested in making some small change out of your photography.

What I like about this site is it is project based, thus the buyer provides a description of what they need and the price they are willing to pay. It is very localized thus it makes it weasy to pop out create an image according to the guidelines and put on the site for selection. From what I have seen thus far I get the impression that many of the images are taken by hobby photographers, thus there is a need on imghouse for photograpehrs with a bit more experience.

Check it out membership s free. Well freeish at least to start.

Going through my bookmarks I found some that might be of interest. Jan Grarup is a tremendously talented photog at Politiken in Copenhagen. I saw his pictures at the World Press Photo exhibition at Öxnehallen in Copenhagen. Check out his photographs from the earthquake in Kashmir 2005!

Don't miss out Jon Lowenstein at www.noorimages.com/index.php?id=home.

Finally I recommend my favourite, Yiuchi Hibi at www.dawsonbooks.com/viewgallery.php?ID=35 and www.gallery339.com/html/artistresults.asp?artist=31. I bought his book Imprint through Amazon where it still available. On my first viewing, I was shocked, now it is my evening prayer. These pictures give me a kick, hope you get one as well. Tell me.

The NYT has a nice blog on photojournalism well worth exploring at http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com. Today there's a story on the "Tank Man" who defied the tanks at the Square of Heavenly Peace in Beijing in 1989. Four photographers with four different takes. Check it out!

Serge.se is a new forum for fine art and documentary photographers. They have some fairly interesting work there at the moment. I am particularly fascinated by Larry Dunstan's work. I have my opinions about some of the others, but I like Serges idea and the quality they are holding.

Well done Serge.se
